Torque 2D

Torque2dMit to Phaser Converter

The "Torque2dMit to Phaser Converter" is an open-source application built in the .NET Framework and can convert Torque2dMit projects into Phaser projects, allowing an easy way to deploy Torque2dMit projects to web.

Torque2dMit itself is a game engine that serves to help people build games, primarily for Windows and Mac (although it is possible to deploy games with Torque2dMit to also Linux, iOS, Android, and even Web but its difficult).

Phaser is also a game engine but its designed to create games that can be played in the browser (ie a web-based game engine).

The Torque2dToPhaserConverter fits into all this by taking a project built using Torque2dMit, and will output a Phaser project that contains the same game as the one built in Torque2dMit, but now it is a Phaser project! And since its now a Phaser project, the Torque2dMit game can now effectively be played in the browser (or on the web).

NOTE: The Torque2dMitToPhaserConverter project is a .NET Framework project. You will want to download a tool such as Visual Studio Community 2019 to compile it and/or make changes to the converter project of your own.

Note also that this project is in the 'alpha' stage of development, so you should not expect it to perfectly convert a Torque2dMit project to a Phaser project out-of-the-box. You will likely have to either a) modify the Phaser project that is output by the converter so that it can behave as desired as a Phaser project, or b) modify the Torque2dMitToPhaserConverter project so that it can correctly convert your project to a (more desirable) Phaser project

Note that option a) is easier, but option b) might be better in the long run, especially if you are planning to use the converter on many occasions, perhaps because your project is still in development. In that case, you may not want to have to 'fix' your Phaser project over-and-over again and instead build on the existing Torque2dMitToPhaserConverter project to do what you need (and it can then propely run on every time you need to do a conversion).

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I am a fairly experienced developer myself (been programming for about 10 years, and did Software Testing for 5 years before that). My name is Jeff Moretti, and I graduated from the University of Toronto in 2004 from the Computer Engineering program (specializing in Software courses while I was there). My programming skills are varied, but have experience in many languages including .NET/C# (my most skilled language), ASP.NET MVC, MS SQL, Javascript/Jquery, PHP, Java, along with Torque2D and Unity (C#).

As for the Torque2dMitToPhaserConverter project, I worked on it alone, with the main objective that once I was finished, I would have an application that would 'automagically' convert my Torque2D video game I created a long time ago to a Web-version of it. I thought about doing it manually, but I then realized 1) that would be very boring to do, and 2) by making a converter, I could give it to other people so they could do the same!

As for the video game I created, it is called 'Puzzle Galaxies':

Evermore Game Studios

Puzzle Galaxies can be found at http://www.puzzlegalaxies.com/

I am very proud of the video game I created, and hopefully it will inspire other's to create video games of their own too :) It admittingly has not made very much money, but I had a lot of fun doing it! I also learned a lot along the way.

WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE AND/OR SUPPORT:

There are many ways you can contribute/support to this project! You can either:

1) Offer to contribute to the Torque2dMitToPhaserConverter project

If you like the Torque2dMitToPhaserConverter project and find it interesting, you are more than welcome to offer to contribute to the development to it :) Please email me at jeffmoretti@evermoregamestudios.com if you would like to help contribute to the project, and we will discuss how you can get involved and provide more functionality to the project and make it even better!

2) Spread the word!

Perhaps you like what you see, and would like to let your friends know about it! Feel free to share my projects with your friends, or even make a post on your Facebook page (or other Social Media) linking to my project(s)

3) Donate to the author :)

If you feel a donation is in place for my works, you can make a donation :) Any amount given will be appreciated! Please use the PayPal button below to be redirected to the donation page:

4) Purchase Puzzle Galaxies (on Big Fish Games)

Another way of supporting is to go out and buy Puzzle Galaxies! It is available for both Windows and Mac. I should make a note however - I no longer receive payments from Steam for this product (I ended up selling the Steam rights to my publisher, we did it that way because it was too inconvenient for my publisher to keep track of the royalties that I was receiving every month, so we decided on a flat rate and he bought it outright). As such, if you do plan on purchasing Puzzle Galaxies with the intention that I will receive some income for it, you must buy it from Big Fish Games (or, I guess if you like Steam you could buy it on both Steam and Big Fish Games and that would work too, if you happen to be a Steam-fan).

However, I'm fine if you simply buy it off only Steam and tell your friends about it :) I wouldn't mind spreading popularity about my video game either :D

5) Join Evermore Game Studios!

If you have the potential to make video games, and always wanted to, please reach out to me and join my team! I am open to pretty much anyone who wants to join in and help out! See below for more info.
